It's been another busy month getting ready for Christmas at the cottage. This year, I had no room for my seaside Christmas tree. I improvised with a wire tree that I had and added some picks that look amazingly like seaweed. Here's the transformation:
I bought these particular picks at Michael's. They are the perfect glittery green.
I kept layering them onto the wire tree. Add glittery starfish ornaments and I have another tree that I could picture Ariel having for Christmas.
Here's an idea you could do with your mantel: Start with a line of white lights. I covered mine with a long piece of tulle for a softened look. I purchased some dyed blue reeds and layed the bundle across the tulle. Use same picks from Michael's including some turquoise squiggly ones and tuck them throughout the reeds. I then added sparkly starfish. The tulle and reeds look soft like water.
Another little beachy touch. Use those old ornaments with some gifts from the sea in a pretty jar. Add some ribbon and you've got a pretty little accessory or gift for someone special.
